Hi all! If you haven’t already read my ‘About’ on my navigation bar, it’d probably be best to start there so I can avoid posting that lengthy (*boooring*) intro here.
So why am I finally blogging? Well, before we begin, I must admit I’ve underestimated the life/occupation of an Influencer/blogger. The end result may be a simple photo and a nice blog post, but let me tell you, this “stuff” is very tedious, time-consuming, and expensive.. and I now have nothing but mad respect for girls who have full-time jobs or are full-time mothers that still somehow manage to create and post content on a daily basis. I’m nowhere near where I want to be and I’m already learning that it’s a constant 24/7 mental flow, actually, your mind never fully shuts off. It’s definitely not a 8-5 job where once you clock out, you don’t have to think about work until the next day. This is an all-day, all-night, from the minute you wake, to the minute you knock out type gig (and I LOVE IT!)
Anyway, I had blogged a bunch in middle and high school so this is not a new concept for me; but this more ‘modern/professional’ approach of blogging had always been something I’ve gone back & forth with for years. I could never pull the trigger namely for three reasons: 1. Since starting & graduating from grad school, I had not done much traveling, adventuring, or anything really that I could capitalize or glamorize on. The last two years were full of juggling multiple jobs, internships, and class all in business attire or dull polyester sports polos and khakis – NOT blogger-cute nor friendly. 2. This past year was a very different/uncomfortable transition phase in my life, so my mind was complete silly putty and I had to do a lot of personal rebuilding in many departments of my life 3. Would anyone even read this? I wanted more depth than just fashion and clothing, but what else would readers find interesting? Not to mention I was having a hard time coming up with just 15 individuals who would possibly be interested in any of my content.
Last winter, I had traveled back and forth to Hong Kong multiple times. I had a lot of time on my hands which I put into reading the Bible, devotions, books (lots and lots of books), and thinking/reflecting on my life and 2016’s ‘crazy’ events. All that aided in developing this new outlook and approach I now have to life (still learning & tweaking of course); and with that came numerous amounts of tips, life hacks, and realizations – all of which I wanted to share with anyone who would extend an open ear. It was then that I considered blogging as a serious hobby again.. to not only post about fashion but to also share how God works in my life, helpful life hacks, and my ‘fuzzy feels’ as I like to call them.. aka anything that makes me feel some type of (good) way. But I just knew timing wasn’t right. Not yet.
Starting a blog was so much more than just posting outfits and talking about fun topics. The entire presentation and being is your brand. It’s you. It’s everything you tie yourself to, and it’s something you need to make sure you love and are comfortable with for years to come. Many may think it’s ‘not that serious’, but for me, it is.
It has now been 1 year since those Hong Kong trips, and with the recent re-focus & re-direction of my separate fashion Instagram account, I feel it’s finally time to inaugurate this new online journey. God’s timing (or just timing, which ever way you swing) is everything, and that is what I was most dependent on. Friends and followers will always push you to do things (all with positive intent of course), but do them when you are ready. You’ll just know, trust me. Nothing sucks more than starting something prematurely without a clear direction or vision, only to spend even more time and effort re-branding it all later down the road because things weren’t fully thought out.
So now that we’ve gotten all of that boring stuff out of the way, here’s what I plan to incorporate in this blog:
– Outfit posts, season’s trends, fashion tips/hacks, how to spend less, etc.
– I’m trying to delve more into beauty products. I’m finally realizing that even though I’m Asian, aka I’ll most likely age well, I still need to take care of myself. Let’s be real, my skin isn’t getting any younger. So be patient with me as I try to catch up and find what works for me!
– Things faith related (Jesus is my #1 priority in life just in case you missed any of that in what was written above.. (lol))
– YouTube videos
– A continuation of my Boss Babe tips (I’ll start with a compilation of tips that I’ve already posted on my Instagram story thus far)
– Life tips & advice (anything school/career related, lessons life has taught me, improving on your confidence, the list goes on)
– My Bride-To-Be wedding planning journey
*Disclaimer: I also tend to have much more of a dry, sarcastic humor; so please, and I hope that you do, take my posts lightly as they should be enjoyable and light-hearted. I, in no way ever, intend to offend or shade anyone – that will never be my objective or goal. I’m just here to share with you guys the ins and outs of my life and thoughts!
Okay… well, I’ve never been good at endings, farewells, or good-byes, so I’m not sure how to sign off on an intro like this except by saying that this is me signing off on my intro.
XO, Jess or Jay, you’ll see both depending on the mood I’m in.
