I had the honor of being invited to FacialWorks for my first facial ever! I know what you’re thinking… first facial?! I’m quite late on the skin care train but I promised myself I’d make it a resolution this year to take better care of my skin. FacialWorks is Orange County based with three locations – Pacific City in Huntington Beach (where I went), Newport Beach, and Aliso Viejo.
The ambience of their locations is very serene. Most facial places have minimal white walls (which is great too) but I love how they incorporated aqua blue walls. It gave a relaxing ocean feel! They also screen your favorite chick flicks and have easy listening music playing in the background.
Taryn, the Pacific City manager, did my facial. She was so sweet and informative – definitely something I needed considering she was popping my facial cherry. Below shows the different serums/moisturizers/sprays that were used in my facial + 2 enhancements in chronological order.
I went with the HyrdaWorks facial. It’s a procedure that rehydrates your skin by giving it two passes of oxygen. She started off by cleansing my face with their Hydra cleanser and Clarisonic brush. I told Taryn I get redness so she sprayed my face their Hydra SeaMist ($28). It contains SeaWhip, cucumber extract, and hyaluronic acid – all soothing and anti-inflammatory agents to calm redness and plump skin (I ended up purchasing this and I absolutely love it. It works for all skin types and smells amazing). Then she prepped my skin for the oxygen passes. The oxygen was a very faint tingling feeling, it nothing painful at all! After, she used Cool Globes to massage and penetrate the liquid moisturizer into my skin and pores. It also helps take out any immflamuation and swelling in the face.
In addition, I added two enhancements. These are add ons after your facial that you can use to “enhance” any problem or skin issue you want focused on. I chose O2Works which adds another pass of oxygen to further let the hydration seep into your pores & skin and LiftWorks (which I’m OBSESSED WITH) that gives our face a lift! Yes girl, I walked out of there with contoured cheeks.
Above, Nuface, is what they use to help lift your face. I’ve seen a lot of big bloggers use this. I never thought it would actually work or was worth the splurge until I saw it on my own skin!
She finished off with applying a barrier repair, eye cream, and tinted sunscreen. I felt like a new human after. The feeling of dewy hydrated skin is my favorite (that same feeling you get from using hydrating masks) and my skin felt and looked like that that the entire day (11am-10pm when I rinsed my face before bed).I would highly recommend FacialWorks. I also always shied away from facials because, for whatever reason, I thought they were really expensive. The facials at FacialWorks are $50 each! Each addition enhancement is $20. That’s definitely within budget and I will totally be incorporating them in my skin routine moving forward!
