I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite 2017 looks. Most of them are outfits post-July (aka when I started outdoor shooting) but I included a couple old mirror selfies as well – a blast from the past for my Day 1 followers (a special hello & love you to you guys!). I’m also going to include items I’ll still wear the heck out of in 2018.
What’s weird is that I always love dressing up and doing looks with cool statement pieces, but as I was going through my instagram, a majority of the outfits I chose for this post were either/included:
– Older pieces I’ve owned for years
– Pieces I wore the crap out of on a weekly basis
– More casual, everyday looks even though it only made up of 35% of my outfits shot
Believe it or not, it’s hard for me to throw together a solid ‘causal’ outfit, so I guess that will be a goal of mine for 2018. Too, based off of Tuesday’s polls, 60% of you wanted to see more of casual looks anyway. I will (of course) throw in my chic-y deeky fits because I LOVE THEM ,DUH, but I guess even for me, casual looks are just more practical.Pardon the quality of these photos – most of these were on my old phone or have since been deleted so I had to screenshot them off my computer. I will talk about whyI love the outfit and ways to style them so they stay relevant in the upcoming seasons. I’ll link the items if in stock. If not, I’ll try to link something extremely similar.
Sweater dresses will always be in style. They’re elegant, comfy, and easy to throw on. You can go more casual with flat sandals and a pony tail OR dress it up with heels or heeled booties like shown above.

I LOVE a good solid colored satin/silk jumpsuit. This one is from Lulu’s summer 2016 collection.
1. They hide all body imperfections
2. I can eat whatever I want and not have to worry about bloat
3. It’s just one piece so you don’t have to do much other than pair it with a belt and shoes
4. You can leave it as shown above (casual) or dress it up with a leather jacket or blazer
5. They’re timeless. I’ve been wearing jumpsuits since 2009 and still wear some of those same jumpsuits now!
Plaid tops are also always going to be in style. What I love about this piece is that it’s a play off your typical plaid shirt. I bought this two years ago from Nordstrom (It’s Treasure & Bond brand) ANDDD.. I barely wore it for the first time two weeks ago *face palm*. Don’t ask me why. So if you’re look for a fresh approach to the boring ‘ol plaid button downs, look for some plaid tops that are constructed differently. It’ll bring some edge to your outfit yet still remain relatively casual.

Okay, I saw this bodysuit at Zara and knew it had to be mine immediately. Florals were huge this winter which is crazy to think since they’re a spring trend. Although this is a winter piece from their collection, it can easily be worn in the spring and summer simply because of it’s bright and happy colors. As the weather warms up, I’d style it with some distressed mom jeans and sandals, or some white trouser pants, a belt, and heels!

My inbox flooded after this post. The boots are linked below but this sweater dress is SO old. I’m talking Summer 2013 old. It’s from Brandy Melville. What’s great about this piece is that it’s a thick knit. I don’t wear it much in the spring or summer because it gets way hot in this, however it’s the perfect thickness for transitional fall/winter weather. It’s also effortless again as mentioned in the first sweater dress outfit. Throw on a belt to create a waist line and you’re pretty much done!

This was my favorite sweater purchased this fall. The color, material, material weight, feel, fit, cut, ALL of it was perfect. It looks expensive too. When you see the fabric in person, you would’ve thought this costed $80+. Welp, it was a whopping $23 (or something like that) from Forever 21. Forever put out a few good gems this past season. Although they still fall into the experimental category with 80% of their items, finding pieces like this sweater was literally hitting a fatty jackpot.

I’ve had a thing for oversized sweaters since, well, forever. This one’s from Free People that I got at a killer price of $30 from Nordstrom Rack. Hautelook and Nordstrom Rack always have insane FP deals. I threw this over some shorts and boom, a cute and easy bonfire, beach day outfit! Just because you’re going to the beach doesn’t mean you have to wear beachy clothes – I had my bikini on under this. I love the look of fun oversized sweaters, especially if they have graphics, and cutoffs for the beach! Plus, it keeps you warm once the night breeze kicks up.

I love white. It just screams pure, sleek, and clean. This is a ribbed bodysuit worn under white trousers and a brown belt. I liked the ribbed aspect of the bodysuit because it dressed down the outfit. Any outfit with wide legged pants will be dressy so I wanted to mix in some everyday textures to make it more fun and age appropriate.

Top 3 Items I’ll Recycle in 2018:
1. White loafer slides – I get asked about these all the dang time. What’s crazy is that I bought these back in November of 2015!! They weren’t even designer, I copped them for $40 on ASOS… but they were a love at first sight item for me. When I first began wearing them, people were SO confused and thought it was grandma-like. Now, everyone has them. Obviously I can’t link them given that it’s now over 2 years old, but Google “White loafer slides” or “white mules” – your options will be endless.
2. Fisherman/cabby hats – I’m a hat girl, I love hats. Although I won’t be wearing cabby hats AS much as I did fall of 2017, the lighter colored ones will be a hit for the spring. If you can find a stone, beige, or tan colored one, buy it. The cognac colored one I have is by Brixton.
3. AE mom jeans – These mom jeans are 100% here to stay in my closet. I hated jeans for literally ever. I went through a few years (yes, years) of not wearing jeans. These are are comfy, stretch, lighter weight, cover the bloat, and aren’t super tight. They’re one of most flattering jeans I’ve ever bought. I don’t care if the “pocket design” screams AE. Caring about pockets are so 2004-2010.
