I was dead wrong when I thought things would finally slow down post-wedding. August has been absolutely insane, but in the best of ways unlike the later half of July hah. But again, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love what I do so I really cannot complain. August has done me solid and been a great bounce-back from my series of unfortunate events in July. AND I’m finally finding a good balance between work, putting God first, and maintaining somewhat of a personal life again.
So here’s a few updates on what’s been crackin in my work & personal life!
PERSONAL WORK LIFE: I never thought I’d need someone to help me with work so early in my ‘career’, but that day has come. Meet Katie Zander (@katielynnestyle). I brought her on as a helper/assistant/intern/whatever you want to call it. I personally refer to her more as my protege and little sis, but each to their own. Anyway, she’s a baby, only 19, but has SO much potential and a beautiful heart. She also comes to church every Sunday with Tyler and I now, which I LOVE.
LEMON LIFE SOCIAL: I recently joined on with Lemon Life Social, LLC. As you may or may not know, it’s a business that my dear San Diego friends, Kimmy & Ruby started. I will be expanding efforts in the greater Los Angeles and Orange County area. I look forward to expanding the business and eventually hosting events up here in our area!
PERSONAL LIFE: Life is amazing with Tyler! I get the question, “How is married life!?” so often but honestly, it feels exactly the same! However I do LOVE being able to say ‘husband’. We obviously love being married but nothing has changed too much except the fact that we’re finally sleep in the same bed! But we’re doing great per usual. The remodel is also coming along well and we’re due to be done hopefully by late September!
My personal relationship with my mom has grown a ton too. I’m so happy and my heart is full. She’s so invested and interested in what I do now and our bond has really grown in the last couple months, more than it has my entire life.
Also, after a year and a half of praying (very diligently), one of my best friends is finally going to church with us and FULLY plugged in! I’ve seen such an amazing change in his entire being and I love it. Getting him to church was definitely something that Tyler and I were both passionate about and something we didn’t give up on even when it truly seemed he was closing the door for good. Again, my heart is full.
EVENT LIFE:
- Splash House – As a FabFitFun partner, I was able to attend Splash House and After Hours. Splash House is a 2-day music festival held simultaneously at three different hotels in Palm Springs. To make it comprehendible.. it’s as if you were at a music festival walking from stage to stage, except each stage is at a different hotel. Shuttles are constantly coming and going taking goers to their desired hotels throughout the day! It was my first Splash House and it did not disappoint. I thoroughly enjoyed the music and especially the crowd. It also realized that everyone in the world is literally connected through 1-2 people at most. It is no longer six degrees of separation y’all. It’s one. The world is TOO SMALL.
- Rose Bowl Flea Market – Every second Sunday of each month, the Rose Bowl hosts a huge flea market. I did an Instagram story takeover for them and it was so much fun! I was amazed at all the unique and cool things it sold. I definitely want to go back maybe in October (if it cools down by then) and super early so we can get in on the good stuff.
- Forever 21 Back-To-School Event – I had the pleasure of working alongside Forever 21 (Cerritos location) for their Back-To-School denim event courtesy of my good friends Sam & Kim! It was great because I finally got to meet bloggers I’ve been following for quite some time now. They were all so incredibly sweet. There was no sense of competition or cliques; everyone was there to truly create genuine friendships and enjoy each others’ company. That’s how it always should be.
- Mom’s Wedding – Mitzie, my amazing mother-in-law, got remarried last weekend! It was the cutest, most perfect intimate wedding. It embodied her and who she is now and I loved it. I’m so glad that she was able to find love again. AJ is totally her other half and seeing her glow & smile so much over the last year and a half has been a blessing.
- Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival – Oh. My. GOODNESS. I was beyond honored to have been invited to the LA Food & Wine festival this year! It was a bucket lister and such an amazing experience; something I’ll never forget. The level of class the festival had was inexplicable. Needless to say, the food and wine were all phenom – Tyler and I were totally in foodie heaven and left so sleepy haha.
- Revolve Around The World – Honestly, God is so great. Revolve hosted a week-long series of events in LA for their influencers. I’m not an ambassador but the night before day 2, my sweet friend Lihn (whom I’d hadn’t met in person yet) offered to bring me as her +1. I was so giddy considering I had JUST posted a story earlier that day about how good things will come in time and it’ll def be a goal of mine by end of 2018 to hopefully work with them. I had already been invited to the carnival through Revolve, but that was it. Anyway, these were obviously my first Revolve events ever and as expected, my expectations were met. In fact, exceeded. How much attention they pay to detail in planning and hosting is a true art. They have set the bar and standard so high for the industry… I’d LOVE to see another company even attempt to try and do things the way Revolve does.
