Some of my favorite closet pieces are items I know I can wear during multiple occasions & seasons. That’s one thing I try aim for when I shop. Not only do you get more bang for your buck, but if you’re like me, when I buy pieces, especially solids, I like to mentally visualize all the times I can wear the dress to make sure it’s worth the cost. Literally to the point where I’m like, “Okay, after 6 wears, it’s really only paying $10 each time, chill”. Haha, I’m weird, I know.
The first look is a day-to-night look using this orange drawstring shirt dress. I have difficulty finding cute swim cover-ups. I feel like everything either always has too many holes or is too sheer/tight. When I want a cover-up, it’s because I physically want to cover up a solid chunk of my body. Too, most of the time, after a long afternoon of laying out, I’m way too lazy to get ready. I just don’t have the energy to go back to my room/home to change & re-get ready. By then, I’m over it and just lay in bed and fall asleep haha. Thus, I created this easy 5-minute beach-to-dinner look. Go from the beach in a one piece or bikini straight to dinner simply by:
- Buttoning up & tying the dress
- Throwing your beachy hair into a high, messy ponytail
- Swapping your beach tote for a more structured bag with some metal hardware to dress up the look

This second dress falls in line with the more mod street style gal. These more muted/nude tones have really been in and I feel are here to stay for at least another year or two. If you have olive skin like me, this color & dress will be very flattering against your skin tone. I was able to totally switch the look from casual girly to eclectic, boho chic by ditching the denim jacket and throwing on a western-inspired hat. My favorite parts about this dress are the thick scuba fabric which eliminated that look of cheap, stretchy, clingy material and the neckline. It’s simply folded over which, to me, makes it look softer and more expensive versus a dress that would have a regular seamed neckline. This versatile dress is something you can wear to brunch with the girls as well as an event or even the night club. By simply changing your outerwear and accessories, no one will know that it’s the same dress!
